JOB TITLE: Process Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Distribution – Corporate Annex
LOCATION: Macon, GA
Classification: Salary/Exempt
Position Reports To: Vice President of Operations
Supervises: N/A

A. Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Process Engineer is to continually improve the reliability and productivity of plant equipment and production processes.This position will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing innovative solutions to reliability issues at multiple facilities.

B. Essential Functions:

  • Investigates, recommends and documents the means by which maintenance procedures can be improved and coordinates the implementation of these improvements into the efficiency of the maintenance department operations.Beginning with establishing a Preventive and Predictive Maintenance and inventory planning program at each operation location.First order of business would be to establish the current baseline of our maintenance program with current downtime, availability, utilization, etc. to determine the effectiveness of our efforts.Second, to coordinate all efforts to establish and/or document our company maintenance programs within SpendMap.
  • Researches and makes recommendations regarding process improvements or modifications that improve process design, product quality, equipment reliability and reduce manufacturing costs.These recommendations will be reported on a minimum quarterly basis as determined by the Director of Central Maintenance and Senior Project Manager.
  • Lead root cause analysis to evaluate the causes of equipment failures and coordinate action items from root cause analysis to prevent future failures.A report will be generated following each analysis to be used as a record or baseline to measure progress or lack thereof, in the future.
  • Lead development of Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP) which optimize Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs at each operation location.This will involve potential travel to each location and working with Operations Managers and the Director of Central Maintenance and Senior Project Manager to establish these procedures.
  • Develop, maintain and report monthly on metrics for measuring and assessing reliability efforts, capturing lessons learned and developing best practices.The metrics will include availability of production equipment at each location, repair costs, inventory costs and the cost variance between planned maintenance and actual maintenance.Keep in mind, time is money and lost production time adds to the cost of actual maintenance.
  • Assist the Director of Central Maintenance and Senior Project Manager to develop the justification and scope of work and to provide engineering support for capital projects.This includes entering each project and all line items in MS Project, keeping track of all changes and updates and reporting monthly on the progress of each project.
  • Assist the Director of Central Maintenance, Senior Project Manager and Operations Managers to troubleshoot production process and equipment problems.
  • Use organizational and planning skills to set goals and get results.
  • Work effectively across all levels of plant organization, individually and with cross-functional teams.
  • Use MS Office Word and Excel, MS Visio and MS Project to present reports and effectively report on and plan projects.

C. Job Requirements and Skill Sets:

  1. Four Year technical degree in a relevant engineering field is required.
  2. Five years related manufacturing experience.
  3. Strong moral and ethical standards.
  4. Strong computer skills, ability to learn and utilize multiple programs.A knowledge of Microsoft Project is highly desired.
  5. A working knowledge and strong familiarity regarding compliance with MSHA safety and environmental regulations is a must.
  6. Ability to travel, as required, to domestic locations independently.
  7. Ability to analyze, trouble shoot and communicate effectively on progress and results of projects, oral and written skills are essential.
  8. The ability to interact, cooperate and communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, employees and management through written and oral communication skills.

D. Working Conditions/Environment:

Work is performed in general office environment and at plant locations; employee could periodically be exposed to extreme temperatures and dusty environment.Employee must be able to sit, stoop, bend and lift up to 55 lbs.

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Manager
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
LOCATION: Gordon, GA
Classification: Salaried/Exempt
Position Reports To: Operations Manager
Supervises: Contractors and/or Employees

A. Position Summary:

This position coordinates and assures that all plant equipment is kept in good operating condition, in order to meet the product demand of customers.This position will plan to minimize unplanned downtime and maximize equipment availability.This position is responsible for maintaining safety and health protection parts, devices and equipment for the operations to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.

B. Essential Functions:

  • Maintain plant in a safe and productive state to ensure the health and safety of all operations employees and in order to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Supervise a staff of up to ten contractors and employees.
  • Responsible for setting up a preventative maintenance program for machines.
  • Contribute to creation of an annual maintenance budget for the plant.
  • Plan the maintenance schedule to maximize production capability and equipment availability.
  • Maintain records showing compliance with all federal, state and local safety, environmental and tax requirements.
  • Order parts and equipment required to minimize downtime and maximize productivity, while maintaining the planned maintenance budget.
  • Maintain maintenance costs at no greater than 2% above the planned maintenance budget, as a cost per ton.
  • Negotiate and plan contracts, when necessary, to maintain or rebuild equipment or facilities to meet production requirements.
  • Determine and plan capital requirements to maintain or increase plant production capability or improve safety and health, as required to meet present and future demand and as approved within financial objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

C. Job Requirements and Skill Sets:

  1. Minimum of two year degree in related field or equivalent work experience of five or more years in a similar role.
  2. Two years of related management experience is necessary.
  3. Electrical, mechanical and/or construction background or experience is necessary.
  4. Strong moral and ethical standards.
  5. Experience dealing with vendors and contractors.
  6. General working knowledge of MSHA safety requirements.
  7. Proficient on computers and experience with Microsoft Office applications.

D. Working Conditions/Environment:

Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects up to 55 pounds. Frequent climbing, walking, squatting, sitting, and standing. Exposure to dusty (non-hazardous) environment and extreme heat or cold. Occasional travel to other company locations may be required for training.
